This master grade oolong tea hails from the famed tea growing mountain range of Chiha and has been offered as an Imperial tribute since the early days of the Qing Dynasty. Tie Guan Yin is a sweet and floral Chinese oolong tea that reminds you of wonderful orchids from the moment you first smell it. Tea has a pale yellow-green color when brewed, notes of rice with distinct fragrance of orchids and refreshing kick you might otherwise only get from a bubbling brook in the Himalayas; it evokes a cool-mountain-air feeling reminiscent of spring, no matter what time of the year it is. Tie Guan Yin is a semi-oxidized tea, closer to green tea (not oxidized) than to black (fully oxidized), as it is only 20-25% oxidized.
This Chinese oolong tea is high in amino acids, polyphenols and antioxidants. It contains vitamins, particularly vitamin C, and other components such as calcium, fluorine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
